Call for Nominations
We are currently accepting nominations for the following Board positions: Treasurer and President-Elect
Treasurer is a two-year term. The treasurer is responsible for preparing an annual report of the financial status of MiDEC, authorizing and reimbursing all approved expenditures within 2 weeks of receipt of invoice, depositing funds and providing receipts, maintaining up to date ledgers and reporting the financial state of the Subdivision to the Board at every Board meeting.
President – Elect serves in the following role for two years: serve in the place of the President with authority in case of absence or disability, be an ex officio member of all committees, attend Michigan CEC Board Meetings as a MiDEC representative OR ensure a consistent alternate attends, authorize expenditures and deposits into the MiDEC accounts if the Treasurer and President are unable to do so. The President-Elect then serves as President of the subdivision for two years. The President is the chief executive officer of the Subdivision. Duties include providing leadership to general policymaking and carrying out the directions of the membership, presiding over all meetings, representing the Subdivision in coordinating efforts with other agencies and other divisions, recommending chairpersons of committees, serving as an ex-offcio member of committees, submitting annual report to DEC and CEC. Following the term of President, this person would continue on the Executive Board as Past-President.

Candidates will have the opportunity to address the membership at the Annual MiDEC Membership Meeting to take place during the MiDEC Conference on April 26 in Mt. Pleasant. Elections will take place by an electronic survey. Elected officials will be expected to attend an Executive Board meeting to take place during the summer months (date and time to be determined).

To join DEC, you must first be a member of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). When you join CEC, be sure to add our division, DEC, to your membership.
